Colgate + SCAD

The brief for this project was to design the future of oral care for young adults in 2025. Colgate came to SCAD because they saw that their line of products had completely missed an age range in which it a crucial time for people to practice and keep good oral habits. This project brought a very interesting angle to oral care, because we needed to find a way to add value to a mundane task.

My Role

I was chosen to be a manager, art director, and financial bookkeeper of a collaborative project with SCAD and Colgate. I co-led a group of 15 students of many different disciplines and countries through the 10 week project. My role ended up benefiting me because I got to learn both how to lead different people, and partake in their design processes.. I worked specifically on the package design, web design, and processbook.

We conducted our own primary studies with locals and students who matched our target market to find their painpoints and interests. We defined our age range as 16-23; defining “young adult” as a person who has gained a substantial level of independence. We then found that the transitional periods were a crucial focus of when healthy oral care habits are valued the most.
